CoWare SPW Supports VHDL Users with Integration of Mentor Graphics' ModelSim Simulator; Capability Broadens Adoption of SPW as Leading DSP Application Design Solution
SAN DIEGO—(BUSINESS WIRE)—June 7, 2004—
CoWare(R) Inc., the leading supplier of system-level
electronic design automation (EDA) software and services, announced
support for VHDL co-simulation through the integration of CoWare SPW
and Mentor Graphics'(R) ModelSim(R) simulator. This integration
enables design teams using ModelSim to leverage SPW -- a complete
platform for the design and verification of DSP applications -- for
the verification of their VHDL-RTL implementation in the SPW system
context. Through SPW and its extensive reference libraries for
advanced wireless standards including 3GPP, 3GPP2, 802.11 and UWB,
designers of wireless SoCs can significantly decrease tape-out risk.
"The ModelSim tool is widely adopted by companies in wireless
product design," said John Lenyo, director of marketing, Mentor
Graphics' design verification and test division. "We are excited to
have a direct interface with the SPW product line. We believe the
combination of ModelSim and SPW can help our customers get
higher-quality products to market sooner."
The enhanced SPW product reads in VHDL RTL code and automatically
generates simulation interfaces to allow the SPW simulator to
co-execute extremely quickly with the ModelSim simulator, using a
single-process integration. It uses a proven and unique technology
combining SPW dataflow simulation with RTL simulation. The
co-execution supports any number of different RTL blocks that are to
be verified inside the SPW system context.
"The addition of ModelSim support enables a much wider audience to
advance their verification methodology for DSP applications design,"
said Johannes Stahl, director of marketing for SPW, CoWare. "Our large
SPW development team continues to execute on our exciting roadmap by
adding relevant design flows to SPW."
Pricing and Availability
SPW with the ModelSim tool integration is in beta now. The
production version of the integration option will be available with
the next release of SPW in August 2004. CoWare customers under
maintenance will receive this feature at no additional cost. For
additional pricing information, contact your local sales office or
email sales@coware.com.
Support for ModelSim-Verilog will be added in a subsequent SPW
release. SPW continues to support Cadence Incisive as well. For more
